Naast een prachtige affiche met sprekers als Matt Mullenweg, Bradley Horowitz, Jeff Jarvis, Chris Sacca, de Pecha Kucha presentaties en een Twitter ecosystem session, krijgen 24 startups de kans om hun service of product te pitchen tegenover de 900 deelnemers aan The Next Web Conference.
In totaal hebben 200 startups zich aangemeld om hun bedrijf te mogen presenteren. De jury heeft uiteindelijk 19 startups weten te selekteren. De overige 5 startups worden geselekteerd via een voting systeem via Twitter, de The Next Web website (cheating in any way will lead to elimination from this competition) en onder dit bericht. Deze laatste groep van Startups (15 inzendingen) kreeg van de organisatie 2 dagen de tijd om een zelfgemaakte video te plaaten op Youtube met hun pitch.
