Album Marillion staat gratis online

In navolging van onder meer Radiohead gaat nu ook de Britse band Marillion zijn nieuwe album gratis via het internet verspreiden. Dat laat de band tegenover de BBC weten.

Het album Happiness is the Road, dat in oktober verschijnt, wordt onder meer verspreid via p2p-diensten. Als je de cd voor het eerst beluistert, komt er wel een pop-up in beeld waarin gevraagd wordt je e-mailadres in te vullen.

Toetsenist Mark Kelly tegenover de BBC: "We're willing to try new things and we want to see what happens."

"Everybody's aware of the effect of peer-to-peer file-sharing on CD sales and the music industry in general."

"Up until recently we've felt fairly immune to that because the fans have been really supportive of the band and, I suppose, because of the age demographic, they do tend to prefer CDs to downloads."
