Kosten PS3 met 35% omlaag

"Sony has cut the cost of materials used to make its PlayStation 3 game console by 35 percent", aldus marktonderzoeker iSuppli.

De componenten die gebruikt worden voor de tweede-generatie PS3 console kosten in totaal $448.73. Terwijl de componenten gebruikt in de eerste-generatie PS3 in totaal zo’n 690 dollar bedroegen.

Jarenlang is er dus verlies gemaakt op de PS3 maar het gat wordt kleiner en Sony kan dit jaar zelfs het break-even point bereiken. "The PS3 may be able to break even in 2009 with further hardware revisions," aldus iSuppli in een statement op Gamepro.
