Goed nieuws voor GMail gebruikers. Google heeft vandaag via Google Labs en het Google Enterprise blog de beschikbaarheid van een offline versie van GMail aangekondigd. Google maakt voor deze applicatie gebruik van Google Gears welke er voor zorgt je al je email-verkeer offline kunt afhandelen.
Zodra er weer een internetconnectie beschikbaar wordt alles via GMail gesynchroniseerd (check de video). Google wil de online en offline applicatie zoveel mogelijk op elkaar laten lijken. “Our goal is to provide nearly the same browser-based Gmail experience whether you're using the data cached on your computer or talking directly to the server."
GMail offline is nu nog in beta en voorlopig allen beschikbaar via Google Labs voor Engelse gebruikers (VS en UK).
